Full-time Positions

We are currently considering candidates for entry-level positions as well as licensed structural engineers with 5-10 years of experience.  

Full-time position applicants for this position must have:

  • Masters Degree from an accredited civil/structural or architectural/structural engineering program

  • A comfortable command of basic statics and structural mechanics

Preferred applicants will have:

  • A P.E. or S.E. license

  • Experience with Revit modeling

  • Experience in structural design of residential, commercial, or institutional buildings

  • Experience working with architects

  • Experience with Project Management

  • The ability to work indefinitely in the U.S. without sponsorship

Personal attributes of many kinds may be acceptable, but an understanding of and dedication to client-centered service is a requirement.

Loveland Detailing

Loveland is the center of our steel detailing operation.  We are interested in hearing from:

  • Entry level or experienced detailers

  • Engineers seeking to be detailers and steel designers

  • BIM modeling experts experienced in a variety of BIM packages, including SDS/2, Revit Structure, and Tekla.

KL&A is a unique environment for detailers, since engineers, construction managers, and detailers generally share the same office, and detailing is often a key part of the design process itself. We expect our detailers to be the best in the industry – are you willing to take on that challenge?

Loveland Construction Management

KL&A has a unique opportunity for an experienced structural engineer or construction manager interested in bridging the design and construction professions.   The position will support our steel construction management activities through pre-construction services, estimating, and assisting construction managers on active projects.  The work will be based in either our Loveland, Colorado or Golden, Colorado offices.  There is room for growth and advancement in a unique, employee owned organization.

Job Description and General Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identifying and addressing potential constructability and engineering issues for steel projects
  • Collaborating with structural engineers, architects, fabricators, erectors and general contractors
  • Estimating structural and miscellaneous steel projects using Revit, Bluebeam and proprietary Cost Modeler
  • Troubleshooting field and fabrication issues
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Actively participating in a team environment
  • Tracking and analyzing project budgets
  • Establishing and maintaining a steel construction schedule
  • Reviewing of shop drawings

 Minimum Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a US citizen or able to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Minimum BS in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management program.
  • Minimum 3 years of either structural engineering or architectural design experience or 4 years of construction management experience on steel building structures
  • Experience with construction administration
  • Experience working and collaborating with architects
  • Must be thorough with high attention to detail
  • Self-starter and active problem solver
  • Working familiarity with standard commercial building codes
  • Revit experience or willingness to learn
  • Proficiency with standard office software such as Outlook, Excel, Bluebeam, Word, etc.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working as an estimator or project manager on commercial projects
  • MS with an emphasis in structures or Construction Management training preferred
  • Experience working for a steel fabrication or erection company
  • Experience with SDS/2 steel detailing software
  • Proficiency with Revit
  • Professional Engineer license
